Our Pastor

The Rev. Dr. Richard P. Bucher was installed as our Pastor on August 3, 2003. He was born in Valparaiso, Indiana in 1959 and grew up in Munster, Indiana. In 1981 he graduated from Valparaiso University with a B.S. in Business Administration. In December 1983, he married Amy Thompson of Lafayette, Indiana. Dr. and Mrs. Bucher have two children, Amanda, age 17, and Samuel, age 14. Dr. Bucher received his seminary training at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana and graduated in May 1985. He was called to be Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton, Massachusetts, and was installed in July 1985, serving for 18 years. He earned a Doctor of Theology degree from Boston University, graduating in May 2001. Dr. Bucher serves as an adjunct Professor at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and has taught both on the seminary campus and at Concordia University, Irvine, California. He recently authored a book, The Ecumenical Luther, which was published by Concordia Publishing House in the Fall of 2003.
